Local Moving Checklist: 4 Weeks to Moving Day
Straight answers from a local North Texas crew.
A little planning makes a local move far less stressful. Use this simple timeline to stay on track.
4 weeks before
Set your moving date and get a quote from your mover. Start decluttering room by room. Decide what to keep, donate or throw away. If you have a lot to get rid of, a junk removal crew or a dumpster can clear it in one visit.
2 weeks before
Start packing the things you use least. Label every box with the room it belongs in. Set up utilities and internet at the new place and update your address. Confirm details with your mover, including stairs, parking and any large items.
1 week before
Pack the rest except daily essentials. Disassemble furniture if needed and keep hardware in labeled bags. Defrost the freezer if it is moving. Pack a bag with essentials for the first night.
Moving day
Keep valuables and documents with you. Walk through the home with your mover and point out fragile items. Do a final check of every room and closet before the truck leaves.
